Types of Natural Stones

Marble
Geological Type: Metamorphic

Granite
Geological Type: Igneous
Granite is a hard, durable stone formed from the cooling of molten magma beneath the Earth’s surface. It is popular for kitchen countertops and architectural applications due to its strength and variety of colors. Turkey accounts for about 10% of the global granite supply.

Travertine
Geological Type: Sedimentary
Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, particularly in hot springs. It features unique textures and is often used for flooring and wall coverings. Turkey contributes approximately 25% to the world’s travertine market.

Limestone
Geological Type: Sedimentary
Limestone is composed mainly of calcium carbonate and is formed from marine organisms. It is widely used in construction and can be polished for a beautiful finish. Turkey has significant limestone deposits, estimated at about 20% of the global reserves.

Sandstone
